A lively town in the heart of North Holland
Schagen is a charming town with a historic centre, cosy streets, shops, cafés and restaurants. The central Market Square, with its impressive church and many terraces, is the perfect place to enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the town. Schagen is also an excellent starting point for exploring the countryside, tulip fields, dunes and beaches of North Holland by bicycle or E-Bike.
History and local traditions are still very much alive in Schagen. Visit Museum Vreeburg to discover what life in this part of North Holland was like in the past. During the summer months, the famous Westfrisian Folklore brings traditional costumes, historic carriages, horses, music and activities to the streets of Schagen.
There’s always something to discover
The town centre is also a great place for shopping, lunch, dinner or simply relaxing on a sunny terrace. And if you want to see more of the region, hop on a bike and within a short time you can be cycling through typical North Holland villages, colourful flower fields or towards the dunes and North Sea coast.
Whether you visit Schagen for a few hours or spend your holiday in the area, the town offers a lovely combination of history, local culture, food, shopping and beautiful countryside.
